QC Times: Dr. Wes Brooks shares message about safety drills
uedbet体育官网 Vice President and Dean of Student Life Dr. Wes Brooks recently shared a message with the Quad-City Times on the importance of conducting regular safety drills on campus.
uedbet体育官网's latest full-scale emergency preparedness drill in April was held in partnership with local law enforcement and first responders. The drill simulated an armed assailant scenario. Students participated in a campuswide lockdown, and offices in a central building were closed. Police and emergency crews moved throughout campus in real time.
"It was not easy. It was not comfortable. But it was essential," said Dr. Brooks.
"As someone who has worked in student life for more than two decades and who now serves as chair of uedbet体育官网’s Emergency Planning Task Force, I believe that drills like these are acts of care. They are a commitment to readiness. They are a reflection of how deeply we value the trust students and families place in us."
